Course Description

Digital pathology’s implementation into the Cytopathology lab’s workflow is quickly gaining momentum. This course will introduce the learner to core concepts of Digital Pathology. Course topics include, whole slide imaging, Artificial intelligence, machine learning and telepathology.

Requirements

This module requires that you sign up for a free account with the Cytology Education Learning Lab (C.E.L.L.)

Learning Outcomes

  1. The learner will explain the importance of continuing education for maintenance of ongoing competence. 
  2. The learner will demonstrate knowledge of the consequences of specimen evaluation on patient management. 
  3. The learner will be aware of opportunities within professional societies and the cytology community at large (e.g., patient advocacy, volunteerism, education, research). 
  4. The learner will demonstrate knowledge of the ethical role and responsibilities of Diagnostic Cytologist by practicing honesty and integrity in professional duties. 
  5. The learner will demonstrate knowledge of the ethical role and responsibilities of the Diagnostic Cytologist by practicing the principles of good professional relationships with patients, peers, staff, faculty, and the public. 
  6. The learner will explain their role within the multidisciplinary patient care team and demonstrate communication skills that facilitate effective interactions to enhance patient management and safety.
